The leadership and members of the Osseo Church of the Nazarene voted on Sunday, April 24th, to sell our current building/property in Osseo and relocate to a property that we already own in Dayton, MN. Our church was founded in Maple Grove 87 years ago and moved to Osseo in 1947. We plan on building a 12,000 sq. ft. church, with ground-breaking and construction slated for June. The new building is designed for future growth in phases.

We plan on conducting our last worship service in the current facility on Sunday, May 22nd. This service will include memories and acknowledgements, plus a time of "un-dedicating" the building. During the 7-9 month construction period, we will have to utilize a couple of different locations to conduct our various ministries. Sunday morning worship services and children's ministries will be held in the banquet rooms at Sundance Golf Course in Maple Grove. The senior adult bible class will be held at Dehn's Country Manor before each Sunday service.

How did this get started?

Our journey to relocate started ten years ago. Under the leadership of Pastor Jim and the church board, we started praying and thinking about our long term vision and future. Dreams about expanding the church’s impact with a more visible and accessible location started to percolate. After extensive deliberation and prayer, the church voted to search for property in 2007.

In that same year, twelve acres of farmland became available on Fernbrook Ln, just across from Dehn’s Country Manor in Dayton. The land was located just five miles from our current location, perfect for the church’s needs, and ready for development. We decided to purchase the property and started to draw up plans. Fundraising was underway, and the current building was put up for sale when the mortgage bubble burst and the recession hit. This forced us to put the relocation plans on hold while we continued to serve the community and engage in growth and mission activities.

Finally, in 2014, doors started to open again as the market recovered and more efficient church building plans became available. Once again, our church leadership put our current property up for sale at the full market price. In January of 2016 a miracle offer came from a Coon Rapids meditation center. Church leadership believed it was an opportunity from God and started to pursue the possibility.
